JACK BOAL - NW1 UTOPIA

NW1 Utopia see’s Grace Fool imagine her Camden-Sanctuary-Flat-Paradise. Having spent a large part of my adolescence in Camden, it was a place I'd always thought I could set roots in. With some bizarre references to the TV home renovation genre, this piece is about the aspirations to create your own queer space and the restrictions in realising it.

Jack is a performer and theatre maker who makes comedy and interactive performances. His first production with Rebecka Öberg, Why I am an Avocado, premiered at Göteborgs Stadsteater in 2019 and will be on tour in the UK in summer 2021. Having met with a creative crisis during lockdown, Jack discovered his drag persona: Grace Fool. Since February 2020, he has been under the great mentorship of HighRise Theatre on their NewGens programme where he has co-written 4 short films later to be released in 2020. This has moved his practice to take a more politically conscious point of view.
